Finland's most responsible product - Finalist 2025
Finland's most responsible product has now been chosen for the third time. We are happy to announce that we have advanced to the FINAL of Finland's most responsible product! 170 products from more than 80 companies participated in this year's competition.
Our product has been evaluated by an impartial sustainability panel of experts among the 15 most responsible products in Finland. The companies are divided into three categories, each with 5 finalists. So we are in any case among the top five companies in the Clothing and Wellness category.
Product and service categories:
- Home and Leisure category
- Dressing & well-being category
- Food and Beverage category
Why is the Finland's most responsible product competition organized?
Finland's most responsible product competition highlights truly responsible products and services and fights against greenwashing. A responsibility panel independent of companies evaluates each product participating in the competition. All products applying to the buy responsibly site are subject to a sustainability assessment by Infine's sustainability designers, after which an independent sustainability panel curates and approves the product.
The Buy responsibly label is awarded to products accepted on the ostavastuulistleti.fi website. The brand is made for consumers, to make it easier to find responsible products. The badge is issued for one year at a time. Judging is a completely independent process and approved curation cannot be purchased.
The sustainability panel has selected products for the competition that support a sustainable lifestyle and meet exact sustainability criteria .
How do you know that Ruukki Kehräämö's Alpaca Royal products are a more responsible choice?
For each product, the sustainability panel evaluates whether the product enables a more sustainable life and whether it is a more sustainable alternative compared to comparisons in the same product category. Experts in responsibility and sustainable living have studied and familiarized themselves with responsibility from different perspectives for a long time. The Responsibility Panel made up of them selects all the products and services presented on the site. They enable us to trust these choices to be genuinely more sustainable.
The panel evaluates how the following things are realized in the manufacturing of the product:
- Combating climate change
- Promoting the circular economy
- Reducing the environmental footprint
- Biodiversity
- Work with human dignity
- Realization of human rights
- Water use
- Good business ethics
- Enabling sustainable consumerism
Relative responsibility
Relative responsibility means that the products and services that meet a specific need are selected from among the available options more sustainably.
Relative responsibility takes into account the fact that when the responsibility of the supply changes, the end result of the curation can also change. What is a more sustainable choice right now may not be so in the future. Therefore, the curations are carried out annually.
Central to the thinking is whether the curated product or service is relatively more responsible than a reference product in the same category?
Is curation the same as certification?
There isn't. Certifications are usually based on pre-defined criteria in the product category. Curation, on the other hand, is based on the experts' case-by-case consideration of whether the product or service enables a more sustainable lifestyle.
There are many certificates for responsibility, but they mostly take into account only limited aspects of responsibility. Ruukki Kehräämö's Alpaca Royal products have the following certificates:
Public vote?
In addition to the responsibility panel, the public can vote for their favorite products on the buy responsibly website. Public votes do not affect the evaluations of the responsibility panel, but the public's favorite is its own category.
